As AI systems move from experimentation to production, the backend becomes the critical layer that determines scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability. This course focuses on the backend services and APIs that power real-world AI applications—bridging AI models, data systems, tools, and user-facing interfaces. 

Participants will learn how to design, build, and operate backend AI services that expose AI capabilities through robust APIs, integrate with external systems, and support agentic workflows at scale. Emphasis is placed on practical patterns, architectural tradeoffs, and production-ready implementation strategies rather than frontend or model training concerns. 

Backend AI Services & APIs equips learners with the skills needed to implement AI-powered backend systems that are secure, scalable, and extensible. The course covers how AI models are wrapped as services, how inference and orchestration logic is handled server-side, and how AI capabilities are exposed via REST, event-driven, and streaming interfaces. 

Participants will explore patterns for managing prompts, tools, memory, and state on the backend, as well as integrating AI services with databases, queues, external APIs, and enterprise systems. The course also introduces key operational considerations such as authentication, rate limiting, logging, error handling, and environment separation. 

By the end of the course, learners will be able to design backend AI services that support real-world application needs, from simple API endpoints to complex AI-driven workflows.
